Auckland Football Federation (AFF) works with Auckland Council, clubs and on the advice from junior, youth and senior club coordinators as well as referees to gather information on whether to postpone matches.
Following the receipt of weekend ground restriction information from Auckland Council on a Friday, fixtures and changes are confirmed as at a particular time and posted on the AFF sporting pulse website and Social Media on Friday afternoons.
Grounds closures are generally not made by councils on Saturday mornings.
On match day, the responsibility sits with the referees and/or host clubs co-ordinators to assess the weather conditions and make a call on player safety.
On the call of the club coaches/referees, club co-ordinator and/or referees on site games can be abandoned due to weather conditions or ground playability. If a match is abandoned for any reason, the referee or the host club must inform the AFF Sunday Competitions Manager.
In the event of severe weather conditions, AFF may make a blanket postponement but these rarely occur. Localised postponements may be made if localised weather affects playing conditions.
If blanket postponements are made, Club co-ordinators will be advised to contact their coaches, managers, parents and players.
Notifications will also be posted on the AFF sporting pulse website.
Please consider all fixtures as on, as listed on the AFF Fixtures Portal unless you are contacted by your club/coach with an update or the matches being postponed or rescheduled.
Teams must check the website on both Friday afternoon after the fixture confirmation time and on Saturday/Sunday morning.
Note: AFF do not use Radio for postponements in Auckland
If any queries are related to a match being played after the fixture confirmation is notified, a phone call must be made to the Competitions Manager – an email will only be viewed after the weekend.
